I have moved the discussion of router/switchers, midi and not, to this tab since the problem is introduced by the need to take a pedal/controller out of the signal path to be committed for use in the loop path and then A/B'd back to your normal signal path...I have talked with Jim Chowning at Rocktron, read through the manuals for the MusicomLab EFX MKII, the Looper5 and have concluded that none of them will allow you to set up one patch that removes a device from the signal path but keeps it active to be 'patched' to another signal path. The simple statement of this is that none of the devices allow multiple signal paths within their devices. The one device that does act as a 16x16 midi patch bay is the Switchblade GL with Winblade editor and it is 1,950 USD. (OK, there is an 8x8 version (Switchblade 8B) that clocks in at 850 USD) Yes, you can use a switchblade A/B stomp pedal to supplement any of the current devices and create a second signal/control path but it is an inelegant solution, don't you think? Maybe Ben kinda expected this since he had two display boards, each with a Titan, set up at the NAMM show.
I expect that more pedals like the Titan (and I love this feature of the Titan) will incorporate an internal effects loop within their devices but the next one that does only exponentially increases the need for a true 8x8 or 10x10 multiple signal path routing device...

I would suggest talking with Burkhardt at Lehle ........he does A/B boxes - but they use special transformers that he designed - far from inelegant http://www.lehle.com/
Burkhardt is a friend of mine - tell him I sent you ;) Cool. B

You are the best, sir, I thank you for your reply. You will be copied on any contact to Burkhard and any solution that he may offer will be shared on this site...good news for me, his devices are sold locally through one of your tour dealers from last year, Russo Music .

For Gabriele:
OK…full disclosure: I have not posted a follow up until now because I was being driven nuts looking for ‘the answer’. But I have found satisfaction with a new tool…an Eleven Rack. This purchase came straight out of this forum and I have not felt this far ahead in the curve since I walked out of a Greenwich Village import record store with “John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton”. One touch of the floor Midi controller changes from a Plexi-Chorus and heavy reverb to a black faced Twin-Reverb sounding blue-eyed soul rhythm without the 1,000s of equipment dollars that represents.
For anyone who has ever wondered why the sound you hear live is sooooo different from what you get at home or been frustrated when the light guy shines the arc spot on you and your rig starts to buzz or any other tonality issue including “is the cable between the fuzz and the chorus pedal grounded?” or “Should I have one pedal for chorus and another for a rotary speaker effect?”…every hardware and electrical issue is addressed by making it about the software…polarity, grounding, impedance…you name it, technology rules!
That said the F/X loop out the back of the device still allows for personalizing…I LOVE my Famulus and my Titan…and the question of switching devices in and out of the effect’s loop on the Titan was never solved by anyone. I spent hours at Russo Music playing with the Lehle boxes and contriving solutions with the techs there only to conclude that there is no readymade multi-signal path solution out of any box currently in any store. Maybe, the G/L Switchblade with WINBLADE software does…but who is putting 2 grand on the line for a device that you have never seen nor held in your hands? No, that was not my choice…and I am satisfied with a 90% solution if it works 100% of the time. So, a $800 Eleven Rack, a $400 VooDooLab GCX Pedal Switcher and a $400 VooDooLab Ground Control Pro and my F/X Loop populated with a Famulus and a Titan with a Nova Modulator and a Pentavocal Tremalo in it’s effect’s loop was my answer at the end of the day. I have even kicked my Mesa Boogie addiction and am using a powered Atomic Reactor to amplify and monitor the sound I’m getting.
I am looking forward to whatever demo Ben puts up for us on the Synthotron...and I want some RW gear to wear...
ok, here is the political comment...the difference for the consumer is that a summer show gets us excited to spend money in the fall as Christmas inventory arrives...the January timeframe catches us broke and paying off the presents...in a bad economy, why do companies feel that thier buying public will just understand why they do less or react positively to being treated less...when money is tight then it's the time to be more grateful that we're here to buy...I know that one of the few reasons that I was considering going to Nashville was to meet Ben...guess it's just bad timing...maybe it reflects the idea that the American market is not that significant anymore...globalization? It's a rough pill to swallow!
