Okay, I just unboxed a Famulus I bought from Full Compass. The overdrive sounds fantastic, but I am noticing a fair bit of noise, like the sound of frying bacon. It's most pronounced on Gain B, but can be heard on Gain A when turned past about 8 o'clock or so. Is this normal?
I've tried two different power supplies (a BOSS and a Fulltone) as well as a battery, and two different guitars (humbuckers and single-coils). The cables are fairly new boutique cables from DeathValleyCables, and have not presented any issues before. I do notice that the noise will decrease as I turn down the volume on the guitar, but it won't go away entirely.
So, help!

Hi Buzzmo, Sorry to hear about your issue...... Would it be possible for you to go to Full compass and a/b against another Famulus - if it is the unit that is at fault they should be able to just swap you out. Please let me know how it works out. B

GabrieleCento wrote:Hi.. please if possibile.. post some audio sample.. to better understand.. the issue.. Here you go. Buzzmo's Famulus audio sample (.wav, About 12 MB.) 00:00 to 00:12 is my amp (Budda SuperDrive) with the master at about 9 o'clock, my Les Paul plugged in directly. Then I go guitar > Famulus > amp. 00:13 to 00:29 is some feedback and me moving my guitar. 00:30 to 01:00 starts with the sound with the pedal turned off. Then you can hear the click as I switch it on. Gain A and B are both at 12 o'clock, and I sweep the Alchemy knob from center to A, then from A to B, and back again. You won't miss the frying-pan sound, trust me. 01:02 to 01:16 is my guitar through a Fulltone GT-500, using the overdrive with the drive set a 12 o'clock. You can hear the click as I switch it on and off. Dead quiet. I dunno, I think it's real obvious there is something wrong.

B I am going to contact them tomorrow and hopefully swap for a new unit, hopefully without a re-stocking fee. If they will not take it, I assume I can take advantage of the warranty and send it in for service? Aside: Ben, your video demons are the best I've ever seen. They totally sold me on the Famulus and the Fuzz God II (which I'll be getting in a few weeks). Don't change a thing!

Hi Buzzmo, it sounds like a dodgy transistor to me - have no fesr - we will get this sorted. Let us know how things work out at the dealer. Worst case scenario you can send it back to us here for a repair at no charge. Keep me posted how this progresses. Have a great day! B

I'll check back in once it arrives, which should be a couple of weeks, I think. Thanks for the help!
